I'd appreciate comments and corrections, particularly if I've overlooked an episode. Thanks!
Episode | Who | Details | Notes | |
1 |
1-1 Pilot |
Lex |
Lex is driving fast and gets distracted by a cell phone call so he can't react in time when a bale of wire falls off a truck. He swerves out of control straight into Clark, taking them both over the bridge and into the river. Clark peels off the roof of the car and hauls an unconscious Lex to safety, then administers super CPR. |
"I could have sworn I hit you" |
2 |
1-6 Hourglass |
Zoe |
Harry, who is killing the descendants of the jury who convicted him of murder decades ago, starts to strangle Zoe with piano wire. Clark gets a clue from Cassandra and is able to reach them in time. |
Does Zoe count as a stranger since she works at the place where "young people congregate"? Oh well, the next one definitely does. |
3 |
1-9 Rogue |
Homeless man and dog |
Clark steps out of a museum function in Metropolis only to see a homeless man about to be hit by an out of control bus. Clark steps in front of the bus and tackles it, saving the homeless man who is fortunately asleep. |
Observed by rogue cop Sam Phelan, who then tries to use Clark for his own purposes, reinforcing Clark's paranoia about maintaining his secret |
4 |
1-11 Hug |
Kyle Tippett |
Whitney and then Lex attack Kyle while under the influence of super-persuasive Bob Rickman. Clark stops both attacks, which in the case of a very determined Lex involves escaping a burning car and trying to dodge a hail of bullets. |
Neither Whitney nor Lex remember what they did under the influence, although Lex must wonder what happened to his car. |
5 |
1-16 Stray |
Ryan |
Ryan tries to run away from his step parents, which eventually leads to him being trapped in a garbage dumpster about to be compacted. Clark rips him free just in time. Later, Ryan is about to be killed but Clark takes out step-dad with a bowling ball. |
If you're young enough, apparently Clark doesn't worry about you knowing his secret. |
6 |
2-5 Nocturne |
Byron |
Byron is kept locked in the cellar by his parents because a LuthorCorp related medical experiment causes him to have a Hulk-like reaction to sunlight. Clark first releases him from the cellar, but soon realizes his mistake when Byron attacks Pete. He then tracks down Byron and stops his rampage by knocking them both down a well and out of the light. |
Byron is shown getting light treatment to control his condition. |
7 |
2-6 Redux |
Principal Reynolds |
Krissie consumes the youth of her targets, killing them but keeping her in near perpetual youth. When Principal Reynolds persists in trying to get to know her parents, she chooses him as her next target. Clark zooms in and throws her away from the unconscious principal. Deprived of her prey, Krissie rapidly ages and falls to dust |
|
8 |
2-10 Skinwalker |
Kyla |
Kyla shares with Clark some of the myths of the Kawatche tribe as they explore the caves together. The ground shakes due to a LuthorCorp development just above, knocking Kyla from her perch. Clark catches her, then protects her as the roof partially caves in. Kyla realizes he is the Naman of myth. |
Kyla becomes outraged at Lionel's influence in Clark's life, and dies after an aborted attack on him. |
9 |
2-15 Prodigal |
Lucas |
Lucas is being shot at by a hitman on a motorcyle. Clark, moving in bullet mode, shoves the mobster off the motorcylce, swats away at some of the bullets, then lunges forward to block the last two bullets with his back. |
Clark hides the bullet holes in his jacket from a bewildered Lucas. |
10 |
2-18 Visitor |
Cyrus |
Cyrus, who believes he is an alien, is bullied by the jocks. Clark intervenes the first time to send the jocks running with heat vision, then later uses super strength to prevent them from pulling down Cyrus's radio tower. |
Cyrus uses his healing ability to save one of the jocks, then slips into a coma. |
11 |
3-4 Slumber |
Sara |
Sara is in a coma but reaches out to Clark's alien mind with her nightmares. Clark eventually figures out her uncle is drugging her and moves to stop him, but first Sara must defeat the fears that are keeping them both trapped in her mind. |
|
12 |
3-5 Perry |
Perry |
A drunken Perry White crashes his car while trying to avoid Clark, whose super speed suddenly glitched due to solar flares. Clark steps across the downed power lines and pulls Perry to safety. After several more bizarre events, Perry tries to prove he's right about Clark by jumping off a bridge (albeit with a rope around his ankle). Although Clark is completely powerless, he tries to save Perry, leaving them both dangling high above the river. Clark eventually pulls them both to safety. |
Perry vows to reform and look up his old friends at the Daily Planet |
13 |
3-6 Relic |
Dexter |
Dex was convicted of murdering his wife, Lana's great-aunt Louise. Clark, with help from a Kryptonian relic, finds out that it was actually Lex's grandfather Lachlan Luthor who did it, as a "favour" for being released from jail by then Deputy Tate. Clark gets now Mayor Tate to confess. |
When Lex finds out that Lachlan was arrested as a petty thief, he starts looking into his past, eventually uncovering Lionel had Lachlan murdered. |
14 |
3-12 Hereafter |
Jordan |
Lana and Megan are trapped in a fire by Mr. Altman. Clark (of course) focuses on saving Lana so Jordan goes in to help Megan then Mr. Altman. But Mr. Altman wants to die and nearly takes Jordan with him. Clark runs in to rescue Jordan, then revives him with super CPR. |
Jordan's krypto-ability is burned out of him after his near death experience. |
15 |
4-5 Run |
Bart |
Despite a rocky start, Clark quickly becomes friends with super speedy Bart. But Bart decides to go for the fast money by robbing a manuscript from Lex. His fence knocks him out and plans to hand him over to Lex, who decides because of Bart's youth to turn over the fence instead. The fence knocks out Lex but Clark arrives in time to save everyone, only to have Bart turn on him with green K. |
Bart eventually returns the manuscript to Lex and makes up with Clark. |
16 |
4-14 Krypto |
Einstein / Shelby |
Lois hits a stray dog, who is miraculously unhurt. Clark falls in love (with the dog not the girl) and is upset to find the dog's temporary super abilities resulted from a discontinued LuthorCorp experiment. Shelby is dognapped by his trainers, who use him to rob a LuthorCorp payroll van. Clark rescues the dog but is himself immobolized by some green K. |
Shelby winds up saving Clark and is then adopted by the Kents. |
17 |
4-19 Blank |
Kevin Grady |
Kevin's Krypto-ability usually only wipes a few minutes of a person's memory, but succeeds in blanking Clark's memories entirely. With help from Chloe, Clark tracks down Kevin and helps save him from the guilt he feels over his brother's death in a hunting accident - an accident caused not by Kevin but his father. |
Kevin's father literally tried to transfer his guilt to his son by using experimental technology at Summerholt: this technology succeeds in restoring Clark's memories. |
18 |
4-17 Commencement |
little boy! |
As the second meteor shower begins, Clark spies a meteorite headed directly for a transfixed child. He swoops in and enfolds the boy in his arms to protect him from the blast. |
Shown in the opening credits of later seasons. |
19 |
5-4 Aqua |
Arthur Curry |
Arthur has extraordinary abilities in the water. He is also an eco activist (or terrorist depending on your POV) who gets on Lex's bad side over Project Leviathan, which is a military weapon that kills marine life as a side effect. Lex traps Arthur in an underground lab and deprives him of water. Clark sneaks into the lab and saves Arthur by, ho hum, turning on a water faucet. Together, they stop Project Leviathan. |
I don't blame Lex for seeing Arthur as a terrorist, but its not his right to torture him. |
20 |
5-9 Lexmas |
Santa |
While helping Chloe with deliveries for a Christmas charity, Clark spies a drunken Santa on the roof of a nearby building. Fearing the Santa is about to jump, Clark stops to talk to him and proves the spirit of Christmas is still alive and well. But Santa stumbles on the roof edge and starts to fall. Clark runs down the wall and catches Santa (and his bottle) to their mutual amazement. |
Turns out that this may just have been the REAL Santa, since he was able to finish off Chloe's deliveries in the blink of an eye. |
21 |
5-15 Cyborg |
Victor Stone |
Without his consent, Victor was the subject of a radical cybernetic experiment by a LuthorCorp subsidiary run by Dr. Kreig. He tries to run away and meets Clark, only to be recaptured by Krieg with help from Lex. Clark tracks them down to the lab and breaks Victor free. |
I believe it is implied that Lex lets Victor go free or Clark will have Chloe publish what they found out |
22 |
5-18 Fragile |
Maddy |
Maddy is kidnapped by Tyler, the father she'd never met, who shares her ability to shatter glass. He takes them to the Talon to retrieve some diamonds he'd stolen before she was born. Clark tracks them down and rescues Maddy. When Tyler attacks them a second time, Clark convinces her to not abuse her powers. |
|
23 |
5-20 Fade |
Graham |
While in Metropolis with Chloe, Clark sees a man is about to be hit by an oncoming truck. He vaults across the street at super speed, then pushes the man out of the way. |
Graham turns out to be an assassin who nearly kills Clark, Lex and Lana. |
24 |
6-4 Arrow |
Ollie's secret identity |
Ollie starts his career as Green Arrow with a rather ill-thought-out rob from the rich scheme. Lois is soon on his trail and uncovers enough evidence to get into serious trouble. Green Arrow saves her, but Lois turns the tables and is on the verge of revealing his secret identity when Clark provides a distraction. |
Hey, its tradition for Clark to save super-heroes the first time he meets them. With Ollie, the first real save had to wait 'til the next episode. |
25 |
6-9 Subterranean |
Javier |
Javier runs away from McNally's farm, where illegal immigrants are being used as essentially slave labour. Turns out that Mr McNally has a new found krypto-ability for burrowing through earth and buries anyone who gets out of hand. In the final confrontation, Clark saves Javier but is himself dragged into the earth. Javier starts to mourn only to be astonished when McNally is tossed out of the earth followed by a grubby Clark. |
McNally's abilities were apparently enhanced by LuthorCorp experiments. |
26 |
7-1 Bizarro |
father and child |
Reeves Dam breaks under the combined impacts of Clark and Bizarro, resulting in a huge wall of water that threatens to drown a father and child who were fishing. Clark uses his heat vision to vapourize the water. (OK, ignore the fact that the steam would have scalded the kid: maybe Clark used his cold breath). |
another example where Clark freely uses his powers in front of a child |
27 |
7-5 Action |
Rachel |
Ben is a Warrior Angel fanboy who is not pleased by the changes Hollywood is wreaking with canon. He tries to kill actress Rachel so that her character will not survive the movie. He first rigs Rachel's car to run away, causing Clark to run after it and catch Rachel just as she is thrown free. He then loads real bullets into a prop gun, which the Devilicus character fires at Rachel. Clark uses his X-ray vision to spot the change and swoops in to grab the bullet just in time. |
Ben sees Clark holding the bullet and realizes a real hero is amongst us. He then switches his killing obsession to Lana. |
28 |
7-11 Siren |
Dinah / Black Canary |
Dinah at first works for Lex to stop Chloe and Ollie from intercepting some information. But Clark convinces her to do some more research so she winds up helping Ollie in a confrontation with Lex. Lex winds up shooting at both Dinah and Ollie, who fires an arrow back at Lex. Clark arrives just in time to stop the bullet that was heading for Dinah's heart. |
Told you it was tradition for Clark to save super-heroes. |
29 |
7-19 Quest |
Edward Teague |
Edward is a member of the Veritas group dedicated to "protecting" the Traveller. But Edward finds Clark unworthy of his role and decides to sacrifice him in an ancient Kryptonian rite. Edward then tries to kill Lex who quickly gets the upper hand. Chloe frees Clark, who zooms in to save Edward. |
Teague is later killed by Kara/Brainiac |
30 |
8-2 Plastique |
Tess (and others) |
A bus blows up just outside the Daily Planet building and the passengers can't get out. As the fire and smoke spread, Clark rips a hole in the side of the bus and helps people out. He then notices an unconscious woman and carries her to safety. Good first impression, Clark: it's his new boss Tess. |
Holy indiscreet, Batman. No one saw him do it but surely the forensic people are scratching their heads over that hole. |
31 |
8-6 Prey |
little kid (and others) |
Clark uses police radio to keep track of crime in the city so zooms off to stop a bank robbery. He also sees a kid being threatened by bullies, so he takes them out and speeds off to try to stop yet another crime in progress. |
The kid had his eyes shut. |
32 |
8-12 Turbulence |
Danny Turpin |
Clark has gone undercover in the Metropolis PD to uncover why J'Onn Jones was shot. His partner is Danny, who nearly gets shot by a petty criminal but Clark stops the bullet. He later saves Danny a second time when a crooked cop tries to kill him and Ollie. |
Danny is inspired by Clark to help root out corruption in the MPD. |
33 |
8-15 Infamous |
Fangirl (and others offscreen) |
Clark has come out as the RedBlue Blur and the initial reaction is overwhelmingly positive. Maybe a little too much so: one fangirl jumps off a fire escape so Clark can save her. |
Clark is surrounded by adoring crowds. |
