And now for the last and longest list of all - Clark himself getting saved by another person. Thanks to tariel22 for the idea. There are probably more mini saves with someone tossing away a random chunk of kryptonite that I don't count. Generally, the saves I've included are the resolution to the story's crisis so occur about 2/3rds of the way through the episode. The crisis is the low point for the protagonist, so in Smallville many episodes will have someone getting the upper hand on Clark. Then he gets saved (or saves himself which is often the case), then he goes and confronts the big bad in the climax. The Pilot is a classic example of a fantastic crisis leading to a powerful climax.

Less frequently, Clark is saved as part of the climax itself. This is usually a less effective storytelling approach because the protagonist is put into the passenger seat. It works best in a Clark gone bad situation or when the person who saves Clark is in fact the protagonist of the episode (for example, Lex in Memoria).

For Clark, the real threat is Lana's kryptonite necklace, but being strung up in a field exacerbates the problem (as well as creating an obvious religious metaphor.) Lex hears his whispered plea, "save me", and overcomes his own fears to enter the corn field. Lex unties Clark who falls from the cross. The necklace falls to the ground and Clark instantly recovers, then chases off to confront Jeremy.	Lex finds the necklace and is left with a second Clark related mystery: whodunit. This mystery proves easy for him to solve in the next episode, but in a way disguises the answer to the bigger mystery of Clark himself.
2	1-3 Hothead	Jonathan	Clark finds out that the Coach Arnold is helping his players cheat in order to win and vows to stop him. Coach responds by throwing Clark into his krypto-sauna and locking the door. Clark succeeds in throwing one of the meteorites through the window of the sauna but is then overcome. Jonathan comes looking for him, sees the thrown meteorite and breaks Clark free.	Clark has to tell Jonathan that the "meteor rocks" are the problem, suggesting he never told the Kents about the scarecrow incident.
3	1-8 Jitters	Lex	Trapped in a crap factory that is about to explode, Clark and his schoolmates are saved when Lex enters the situation. He convinces Earl to let the kids go free: in exchange, Lex will give him what he wants: directions to Level 3.	When Clark realizes that Lex is the only one left in danger, he goes back into the plant and winds up saving Lex.
4	1-13 Kinetic	Lex	Clark tries to help Whitney break free of Wade's gang of krypto-thieves but is disabled by their krypto-tattoos. Lex, alerted by Lana to the problem, tasers Clark's guard.	Wade is killed when his krypto-ability vanishes at the wrong time.
5	2-1 Vortex	Lex	Clark goes to rescue Jonathan and Nixon, who have been trapped under debris in an old crypt. But Clark is disabled by kryptonite and Nixon starts to haul him off to have proof for the story of the century. Jonathan tries to fight back but Nixon overcomes him and is about to kill him. A shot rings out!	How did Lex know where to go, why was he carrying a gun? Oh how I wish they'd explored Lex's side of this more.
6	2-3 Duplicity	Pete	Clark starts to rescue Pete from Dr. Hamilton, but is disabled by kryptonite exposure. Pete finishes getting free and knocks Hamilton away from Clark.	Hamilton dies from exposure to the kryptonite solution with which he threatened Pete and Clark.
7	2-4 Red	Pete and Jonathan	Clark is exposed to Red kryptonite and loses his impulse control, leading him to threaten Jesse in a get rich scheme. Pete uses green K to disable him while Jonathan uses a sledgehammer to knock the red K ring off his hand.	With Clark exposed to green K, that sledgehammer blow had to HURT.
8	2-8 Ryan	Lex	After a panicked phone call, Clark breaks Ryan out of Summerholt and asks Lex to shelter him. Lex points out they're both now involved in a crime and Clark admits he didn't think things through. Dr. Garner accuses him of kidnapping and Clark is about to be hauled off to jail when Lex arrives with a restraining order.	This incident has an interesting echo one year later in Asylum, but that time Lex wouldn't have been able to help.
9	2-11 Visage	The ship	Tina disables Clark with Lana's krypto necklace and throws him in the Kent cellar to die. Clark's suffering ends when the ship mysteriously turns itself on and emits a burst of light that neutralizes the green K.	Clark later figures that the ship was saving itself from krptonite exposure, and uses this to blow it up.
10	2-12 Insurgence	Martha	Clark super-jumps into LuthorCorp to save Martha (and Lionel) from thieves out to loot Lionel's safe. But the main contents of the safe are bars of refined kryptonite so Clark is quickly disabled. Martha shoves the kryptonite back into the safe, allowing Clark to save Lionel when the thief tries to use him as hostage.	Lionel winds up shooting the thief. Was he still blind????
11	2-16 Fever	Jonathan and the ship	First Martha then Clark are affected by spores that have mutated under the influence of green K. Remembering how the ship healed Martha to allow her to conceive, Jonathan puts together a plan to recover the key that has been impounded by the CDC. He and Clark then activate the ship and the healing burst saves both Martha and Clark.	This is a literal deus ex machina (god from a machine) climax. They HAD to blow up the ship after this, or there'd never be any more threat since the ship could always save the day.
12	2-19 Precipice	Lana	Clark is sued by a jock when he used excessive force in response to an attack on Lana and subsequent trash talk. Lana eventually gets proof that the jock was lying about the extent of his injuries.	"Its not often that Lana Lang gets to save Clark Kent."
13	3-1/2 Exile / Phoenix	Jonathan and Jor-El	With Clark on a red K bender, Jonathan goes to the caves asking for help. Jor-El responds by making a deal that gives Jonathan temporary super-powers, allowing him to take Clark on directly. Clark wins the ensuing battle but rather than killing Jonathan, chooses to shatter the red K ring.	The consequences of the deal ripple through the season.
14	3-3 Extinction	Jonathan	Van McNalty shoots Clark with a green K bullet as part of his meteor freak vendetta. With help from Martha, Jonathan extracts the bullet then holds his son as he slowly heals.	So why no magic healing à la Talisman?
15	3-14 Obsession	Alicia	Clark reveals his powers to Alicia to stop the elevator they're in from falling. Alicia reveals her own power by teleporting them away from watchful eyes.
16	3-19 Memoria	Lex	Clark believes Lex is endangering himself by working with Dr. Garner to restore his memory. He foolishly goes to Lionel for help, who fulfills his end of the bargain by offering up Clark as a lab rat instead. Clark is trapped in a tank of liquid green K and goes into convulsions. The machinery gets overloaded and the lab starts to blow up. Lex figures out what happened and rushes in to break Clark free.	Lex is understandably upset that Clark went to Lionel for help, and ignores Clark's warning that his struggle with Lionel is making things worse.
17	3-20 Talisman	Jonathan as vessel for Jor-El	Jeremy is given super-powers by a Kryptonian blade and turns against Clark. Clark thinks to disable him with green K but only weakens himself, allowing Jeremy to stab him with the blade. Seriously wounded, Clark crawls into the kitchen and is later found by the Kents near death. When Jonathan tries to cover the wound, his hands emit a glow that miraculously heals Clark.	I guess its a one time per person thing.
18	4-1 Crusade	Martha	After a summer of indoctrination, Kal-El emerges from the caves totally focused on his Kryptonian destiny with no care for the people around him. With a tip from Bridgette Crosby of the Swann Institute, Martha uses black K to allow the dormant Clark Kent personality to take control.	Kal-El may have been able to fly, but he was no Superman.
19	4-3 Façade	Lois	Lois is out to get the story on Dr Fine's cosmetic surgery advances, but winds up on the operating table. Clark breaks her free but is disabled by the kryptonite used in Dr Fine's procedure. Lois administers a drop kick to the not so good doctor and gives Clark a shoulder to lean on as they escape.
20	4-6 Transference	Martha	Thanks to a kryptonian "stone", Clark and Lionel have exchanged bodies, leaving Clark trapped in prison and Lionel lose to threaten Lex. Clark convinces Martha of what happened and she goes to Luthor mansion to disable Lionel with green K.	While Martha didn't save Clark, she does get Lionel off balance, leading to his return to the prison and Clark's eventual triumph.
21	4-7 Jinx	Chloe	Mikhail has the power to control the outcome of events and wants Clark to throw the big game to make his fortune. Chloe helps by doing some research and then using a jamming device courtesy of Uncle Sam (Lane) to block Mikhail's powers.	Mikhail figures out Chloe's involvement and threatens her, prompting a great save from Clark.
22	4-8 Spell	Jason / the stone	Clark finds he is vulnerable to magic when Lana then Chloe and Lois are possessed by witches. Clark is stripped of his powers (and shirt) and left in the loft for future torment. Rescued by Jason, he goes to the cave to confront the witches. The stone restores his powers and he sets the spell book on fire, breaking the possession.
23	4-11 Unsafe	Alicia	As part of her vow to maintain Clark's secret, Alicia teleports into the path of a bullet fired at Clark by her crazy psychiatrist.
24	4-14 Krypto	Einstein / Shelby	While rescuing a stray dog from his trainers-turned-theives, Clark gets immobilized by green K and winds up trapped in the dog's cage. The dog tracks him down and hits the right button to open the cage, then pulls him to safety. The dog then goes back to save his partner in doggy crime, but is trapped when the thieves set the van on fire. Clark ultimately saves the day.
25	4-18 Spirit	Jonathan	The spirit of Dawn changes bodies with each touch so how to stop it? Clark goes to the prom and realizes Chloe is possessed when she starts to act OOC after winning the Prom Queen crown. He follows her to the basement and is himself possessed. He snatches the crown from Chloe and is about to set the school on fire when Jonathan arrives with green K. In extreme pain, Dawn's spirit leaves Clark's body and dissipates.	So this was planned by Clark?
26	4-22 Commencement	Chloe	Clark tracks down the third Kryptonian "stone" to Lex's vault, which unfortunately for him contains some green K. He manages to clutch the stone before falling unconscious. Chloe comes to the mansion seeking Lana and pulls him to safe distance before being confronted by Lex.	Lex accuses Chloe of covering for the person who stole the stone (true) and puts them both in danger by taking them to ground zero: the caves.
27	5-3 Hidden	Lionel as Jor-El's emissary	Clark is shot while trying to stop Gabriel from setting off a nuclear bomb. After Lana sneaks in to talk to him, Clark gives her a tiny smile and then goes into cardiac arrest. After about 30 seconds, he is pronounced dead then left alone while the doctor goes to tell the Kents. Lionel is pulled out of his coma and transports Clark to the fortress, where he is revived.	The life of a loved one is the price of this resurrection.
28	5-7 Splinter	Fine / Brainiac	Infected by silver kryptonite, Clark interprets the events around him in the worst possible way. Lana goes to Lex to accuse him of exposing Clark, but as the scene plays out, Clark realizes that Lex and Lana are colluding over the ship and perceives they are secret lovers. Enraged, he attacks Lex then Lana. Fine stops Clark by extracting the silver K, which he secretly planted himself (probably to expose Clark's weaknesses).	Clark's Lexana paranoia is pooh-poohed by Lana, but proves well founded by subsequent events.
29	5-8 Solitude	Chloe	Fine / Brainiac convinces Clark that Jor-El was a criminal on Krypton and his AI in the Fortress is responsible for infecting Martha. Clark takes Fine to the Fortress and stabs a black crystal into the console. Too late he realizes that he has been duped when Fine disables him with green K then starts to open a portal into the Phantom Zone for Zod. Chloe, thanks to a tip from Lionel, follows Clark to the Fortress and throws the green K away. Clark removes the black crystal from the console just in time, then KO's Fine to win round 1.	The Fortress is amazingly unhelpful when Clark confronts it about Martha's situation.
30	5-14 Tomb	Gretchen in Chloe's body	Clark tries to save Chloe and Lois from Michael but is disabled by green K. Gretchen in Chloe's body attacks Michael, who dies.	A notably unsatisfying climax
31	5-16 Hypnotic	Chloe and Lex	Clark is under Simone's command and is instructed to kill Lex. Chloe arrives with green K to stop him and Simone instructs Lex to shoot her. Chloe and Lex fight for control of the gun and wind up killing Simone.	Lex wanted Simone to break up Clana and uncover Clark's secrets.
32	5-20 Fade	Chloe	Clark tracks down Graham the invisible assassin to Lois's apartment, then uses super hearing to follow him outside. But the tables are turned when Graham hauls out the green K. Chloe is worried and tries to call Clark, then hears his cell phone ringing under a pile of dirt. She finds the green K and tosses it away. Clark zooms off to save Lexana.
33	5-21 Oracle	Lionel as the emissary	Fine poses as Jonathan's ghost and instructs Clark to kill Lionel. Clark is given further incentive to do so when he finds out that Lionel had something to do with Jonathan's death. But at the last moment, he realizes Jonathan would never tell him to kill so turns on "Jonathan". Fine starts to get the upper hand when Lionel reaches out and touches him, causing him to disappear.	Lionel reveals he has been connected to Jor-El since Commencement. Why keep it a secret?
34	6-1 Zod	Raya	Trapped by Zod in the Phantom Zone, Clark meets Raya who first saves him from some phantoms then kicks him unconscious. On finding that he is really Kal-El, Raya reveals she worked with Jor-El and knows how to break him free of the Zone. On the way out, they are attacked by the two Disciples of Zod who Clark had sent to the Zone in Arrival. Raya pretends to betray Clark, then sacrifices herself to buy time for Clark to break free.	Several phantoms and Raya herself are pulled from the Zone with Clark, setting up much of season 6.
35	6-3 Wither	Chloe	Gloria escaped from the Phantom Zone and is determined to spread her green thumb by using men as incubators. Turns out her vines are strong enough to impale even Clark, and he is left to die. Chloe realizes the vines are vulnerable to electricity and zaps Clark free. He then pursues Gloria, taking her out much the same way.	So does electrifying a sentient plant count as killing? Oh well, given the way she handled him earlier, it was clearly kill or be killed.
36	6-8 Static	J'Onn Jones	Clark finds that Jor-El's crystal has no impact on corporeal escapees from the Phantom Zone. The Zoner easily handles Clark's punch, picks him up and prepares to throw him. But he suddenly dies thanks to a mysterious figure who then flies away after dropping an Oreo cookie.	Why would J'Onn help now and not earlier against the even deadlier Baern (or Brainiac for that matter)? Oh well.
37	6-11 Justice	Ollie	Lex has Bart trapped in a LuthorCorp facility and Clark is determined to save him. He breaks in and pokes about until discovering a lead-lined room. Figuring Bart is being hidden there, Clark is instead disabled by a whole bunch of green K. Ollie mounts a rescue of Clark, who goes on to save Bart. They then blow up the facility.
38	6-12 Labyrinth	Shelby & J'Onn	Clark is trapped in his mind by a phantom who tries to convince him that the last few years are the delusion of a psychiatrically troubled youth. Lana is the prize if he lets himself get "better" by undergoing treatment. J'Onn tries to help by entering Clark's mind but the phantom is too strong. Shattered when Chloe "dies", Clark is about to surrender when he hears Shelby barking. Realizing that he is trapped in a fantasy, Clark throws the phantom out of his mind, allowing J'Onn to trap him in his crystal.	IMO, the phantom resurrects Clark's childhood fantasy of a normal life with a perfect Lana, which takes over a year to be stamped out.
39	6-13 Crimson	Martha	Affected by Lois's red K-laced kiss, Clark loses control and crashes Lexana's engagement party. He hauls Lana away to the barn where they are joined by Lex. Lex pulls a gun on Clark, who laughs it off then turns violent. Lex responds to being strangled by trying to stab him with a chisel. Martha arrives with green K to disable Clark, and begs Lana to take Lex away.	Lana steals the chisel to stare at in the non-privacy of her room at Luthor Mansion. Lex later reveals to Clark that he too knows the chisel didn't hurt him.
40	6-18 Progeny	Martha	Under Moira's command to get out of Smallville, Chloe brings out the green K to stop Clark from stopping her. Much later, Martha comes home to find her son in dire straights.
41	6-19 Nemesis	Lex	Trapped with Clark in kryptonite-lined tunnels with a series of explosives about to go off, Lex takes the lead in getting them out. Clark gets trapped under a rock fall and thinks Lex has abandoned him to die. But Lex comes back and pries him free, saying Clark never knew him.	Clark returns the favour by saving Lex when he loses his grip on the ladder that leads out of the tunnels.
42	7-3 Fierce	Kara	Clark confronts the weather girls, who posed as beauty contestants while planning a robbery. They whip up a mini tornado which disables Clark by stirring up some of the ubiquitous green K. Kara arrives and uses her heat vision to shatter the green K, then takes out the girls with a flippy kick.
43	7-6 Lara	Lionel	Kara is being held by Agent Carter in a DDS lab in Washington and is on the verge of death after prolonged exposure to green K. Clark breaks in and tries to free her but is soon disabled himself. Lionel arrives just in time and shoots Carter. Clark saves Kara with a super blow to the chest to restart her heart.
44	7-10 Persona	Lana	Clark is told by fake!Lionel that the only way to kill Bizarro is with blue K. Problem is that the blue K leaves Clark powerless, meaning he can't get close enough. Lana picks it up and, after telling Bizarro that she loves him, uses it to cause an energy overload. No more Bizarro.
45	7-12 Fracture	Chloe	Clark uses a LuthorCorp experiment to enter Lex's mind to find out where to find Kara and Lois. He gets waylaid by the evil side of Lex, but the good side tries to help. Lex's physical condition quickly deteriorates and he dies with Clark trapped in his mind. Chloe uses her healing powers to save them both.	Chloe takes 18 hours to revive this time.
46	7-13 Hero	Lionel	Pete gets super powers and is blackmailed by Lex into stealing Kara's bracelet from Lionel's vault. When Clark shows up to stop him, Pete breaks out the green K, then announces his intention to kill Lex. Lionel arrives in time to revive Clark, who then saves Pete after Lex succeeds in turning the tables.	Clark is not amused to find Lionel was hiding the bracelet.
47	7-14 Traveller	Kara (herself saved by Chloe) and Lionel	Clark is targetted by commandos using a green K tasering system, then trapped in a kryptonite lined cage. His guard used to run Lex's 33.1 facilities and approves of Lex's ability to terminate a problem without hesitation. Seeing Clark as the ultimate threat, the guard turns the power to killing level. Kara arrives just in time to turn off the power but the guard still has his fall back weapon. Lionel appears just in time to kill the guard.	When Clark finds out Lionel arranged for him to be trapped (not to mention his role in the deaths of the Veritas membership), he breaks off their relationship.
48	7-19 Quest	Chloe	Edward Teague is dismayed by Clark's refusal to kill Lex despite the threat he poses. He decides Clark is not worthy of his power, so hauls out the green K and starts a ritual sacrifice. Chloe finds out that Clark may be in trouble so arrives just in time to save him. Clark then runs off to save Edward from Lex.
49	8-1 Arctic (1)	Ollie	Trapped in a Russian work camp, a now powerless Clark tries to break free but only succeeds in aggravating his hosts. Ollie arrives just in time to purchase a feast of caviar, with Clark as a side dish.	Slashy or what?
50	8-1 Arctic (2)	J'Onn	After saving Chloe from a LuthorCorp facility, Clark is shot twice by Ollie, who was under the influence of a LuthorCorp drug. On the verge of death, he is carried into space by J'Onn, where exposure to the sun restores his power.	The trip to the sun drains J'Onn of his own powers.
51	8-4 Instinct	Lois	Maxima is irresistible to any man she kisses, but Clark breaks free of her influence when they are interrupted by Lois.	Maxima tries to kill Lois
52	8-8 Bloodline	Chloe	Clark is trapped in the Phantom Zone and won't leave without Kara, who is trapped under a fallen pillar. Chloe uses her newfound Brainiac abilities to hack into Clark's crystal and open a portal to the Zone. Clark seizes Kara's hand and they both are yanked back to earth.	Ollie is disturbed by Chloe's actions and warns Clark that he needs to do something.
53	8-15 Infamous	Lois	Linda Lake has trapped Clark with green K and is monologuing about how she plans to use the Legion ring to travel through time and become the most powerful media maven of all time. Lois, earlier knocked out, sneaks up on her and administers a classic smack down. She then tosses away the chunk of green K and tries to pass on Chloe's warning about Doomsday.	Clark goes back in time and decides Lois can never know his secret.
54	8-19 Stiletto	Lois and Jimmy	Clark is following up on a story about Intergang but runs into counterfeit money made with green K. Lois saves him just in time, and he then returns the favour by taking a bullet meant for her. Jimmy also gets a hand in before Bruno is finally defeated.	Clark has fun playing up his injury the next day at the Planet.
55	8-22 Doomsday	Jimmy	Ollie shoots Clark in the back with a kryptonite tipped arrow (grrr) and then walks away. Jimmy shows up eventually and is shocked by Clark's condition, not to mention how quickly he heals once the K is tossed away.	Clark admits to being the Red-Blue Blur, and Jimmy dies by the end of the episode.
